ONLY PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
When I was in high school, my golf coach found us goofing off while at the driving range and asked us how our practice was improving our skills. We joked and said how trying to hit the guy on the golf cart collecting balls was a good skill to have. Our coach went on to explain that the habits one forms during practice become ingrained into your muscle memory. While training, even with something as simple as hucking an extra lap on a route you’ve done a million times, pay attention to details. Make sure you wear your real climbing shoes and not your sandals or approach shoes. Make sure you grab each hold the appropriate way. Make sure you focus on movement and balance and using your feet instead of power. Make sure you are thinking instead of mindlessly advancing up the wall. We are only able to do what we train ourselves to do, so it is important to focus on ingraining only the good habits and not the bad. - Rob Pizem
